Description
August 11, 2019 - Hwy 34 East of Benkelman Max Nebraska
We were loosing light fast and we had a decision to make. Either follow the storm south of us and by the time we go there it would have been dark. Or to continue northeast with this cell that was moving towards just to the south of Imperial Nebraska.
This cell was still tornadic and the area of severeness was increasing. It would eventually become a derecho event and would be the strongest outflow boundary with over 115 - 120 mph hours outflow winds. Stretching from Mid Central Kansas all the way up to Northern Nebraska. It would chase us back all the way to south central Nebraska that evening.
We would eventually move to the east but we stopped and watched this cell, which was tornado warned, for the next few mins before heading northeast.
