July 18, 2012 - West of Kearney Nebraska, US
2012 was a hot and dry summer with little to no rainfall. Shortly after May 27, it was the last time that I recorded any type of rainfall in Kearney Nebraska... Very unusual since this is out time for storms.
It remained dry for the rest of the season. Storms would form out in western Nebraska, or in South Dakota. This would happen daily. By the time they would move into south central Nebraska, they were dissipating, and we didn't get a drop out of this.....
This particular evening though, we had storms visible (towers building) to the south, southeast, west and north west. One of the advantages from Kearney Nebraska, spotting the storms forming you can see for miles in each direction. Unfortunately, nothing heading our way, but I could see it building its master plan.
NebraskaSC = Nebraska Storm Chaser I've been chasing storms since the early 80's, out in the plains of Nebraska. A passion to capture the moments that mother nature brings every spring summer and fall to South Central Nebraska. Yes I chase the storms, but I don't travel all that far to get these superb captures of natures fury. I seem to have a knack to be in the right place at the right time. I'm not egotistical, my photography is an extension of what I call art. Since I cannot draw, or paint, but I can get to the right place at the right time when severe weather approaches. These are a collection of my doing so.
